mod-arrow Communications

Email and social media messages continue to be one of the most common ways for a malicious program to access a business network or system.

Proper security tools and policy around communications in the workplace can reduce many of the risks. Educate your staff. By teaching staff how to prevent the spread of viruses via email attachments and phishing scams, you are investing in your organisation’s security. Make sure all employees are educated against opening spam or emails from suspicious senders. Communication of privacy and security breaches can occur by other means.

TIP:

Watch out for the following:

  1. A caller posing as another staff person asking for login information.
  2. Email sent with confidential information to the wrong recipient, or more commonly, an email with a historical string of emails that has a new recipient added. This recipient should not be privy to content in the earlier messages. Email footers with disclaimers are helpful; however, prevention is best! Proper protocol for sending emails should be practiced.
